Native Michigan basalt stone slab with copper deposits and malachite staining in calcite deposits. This was collected from an abandoned copper mine in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Northern Michigan.

The copper is speckled at random throughout the stone. Many more are visible to the eye than can be seen on photo when you move it around in different angles.

The malachite staining gives a pale green tint in some areas. There are also very faint hints of orange or pink in the middle of the stone.

Basalt is a naturally occurring volcanic stone. It is common to find gas bubbles, pockets or indentations in the basalt as well as other mineral deposits.

Back side is rough and uncut. Front face is unpolished and may show saw marks.

Size: approx. 3 in wide by 2 1/2 high by 1/2 in thick

Suggested uses:

Put it on a display and enjoy it like it is.

Polish it up to bring out its natural beauty better.

Or cut it and use it for jewelry.

NOTE: Actual color may appear slightly different than in the photo. This is due to variations in computer or phone display/color settings. Please understand this before purchasing any natural stone products from our store.
